About Us

In a remote area like Koraput, a Sanskrit Vidyapeeth  has been opened to provide opportunities for students of this region to study Sanskrit and various subjects from class 6 to class 12 and to provide opportunities for young and old to learn yoga , karmakand and pourohitya  . With the immense Grace  of Lord Sri Jagannath, the dream of the people of Koraput is now coming true. With the permission of the interim managing committee of  Sri Jagannath Temple in Koraput which was  established in 1972 in the picturesque hill top in the heart of Koraput district headquarter   to start a Sanskrit school, the Sabara Srikhetra Sanskrit Vidyapeeth  in Koraput was established in the premises of Gyan Mandir of the temple . Following seeking recognition and affiliation to this noble institution , efforts had been initiated to form a managing committee for the Vidyapeeth and all the relevant documents were submitted to the office of Vice Chancellor , Central Sanskrit University , New Delhi . A team of learned experts on behalf the University then visited Sri Jagannath Temple , Koraput on 18-09-25  and all the establishment whose documents were submitted with the University earlier . The team after a thorough scrutiny of the campus and the members working with it had submitted a report  to the university . After getting a favourable report from the inspecting team  the Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi sent the recognition and affiliation letter to Sabara Srikhetra Sanskrit Vidyapeeth at Sri Jagannath Temple , Koraput . This work had been accelerated with the active cooperation of the professors & officials of  Sri Sadashiv Campus of the Central Sanskrit University in Puri, the MLA of Jeypore , Shri Tara Prasad Bahinipati and the MLA of Koraput, Shri Raghuram Mach. The process had begun during the last Rath Yatra of 2025 when the Hon’ble Union Education Minister Shri Dhamendra Pradhan, some Hon’ble Ministers of Odisha and local MLAs and Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi the Hon’ble Vice  Chancellor of Sanskrit University, Delhi visited Sabara Srikshetra and paid homage to Mahaprabhu Sri Jagannath , Prabhu Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on the Chariot while taking part in the holy drawing of  the chariots on bada Danda of Koraput . . At that time, the Hon’ble Union Education Minister and Hon’ble  Chancellor came to know about the dream and need of opening a Sanskrit Vidyapeeth here. This proposal was discussed between the Union Education Minister, the Vice  Chancellor of the University , Professors of Sadasiv Campus of Central Sanskrit University at Puri  and the members of Shri Jagannath Temple , Koraput . After a detailed consultation and visits  the Central University authorities of New Delhi vide letter No. 1154, dated 25-09-2025 granted affiliation to the Sabara  Srikshetra Sanskrit Vidyapeeth to be established in Koraput.

The cooperation of the authorities of various temple management bodies of Koraput region, public representatives, media friends and well-known personalities from various places is sought to attract enthusiastic students for these courses. While at  Sabara  Srikshetra ,  Shri Jagannath Temple  is providing the necessary land, house, equipment, hostel, classrooms etc. for the Vidyapeeth  in its initial stage, efforts will be made to get the support and grants from the state and central governments in addition to different organizations & individuals dedicated towards preservation and promotion of the Cultural heritage of India and more importantly in Koraput :  a land of rich tribal culture .

It is hoped that this great institution will take full shape with the Grace  of Lord Jagannath and the help and cooperation of public representatives and the public in bringing great research  to go into deeper spirit of Tribal Culture , rituals and spirit of life through the study of ancient scripts and referring to the indigenous knowledge of the region .
